How is bacterial vaginosis diagnosed?

Bacterial vaginosis is usually diagnosed based on symptoms and confirmed with laboratory tests. The doctor may take a sample from the vaginal mucosa, which is examined under a microscope for abnormal bacterial growth. Additionally, a pH test can be performed, as the pH of the vagina is often elevated in bacterial vaginosis.
