How is anemia diagnosed?

Anemia is usually diagnosed with a blood test that measures levels of hemoglobin and hematocrit. If anemia is suspected, the doctor may order additional tests, such as examining iron levels, vitamin levels, and the morphology of red blood cells, to determine the type and cause of the anemia.
