Home / FAQ Items / How is sleep apnea diagnosed?

The diagnosis of sleep apnea is based on an assessment of symptoms and sleep registration, also known as polysomnography. In this study, the patient’s sleep is monitored overnight in controlled conditions, where breathing, heart rate, and brain activity are recorded. Additionally, a simpler form of sleep registration that can be done at home, focusing on breathing and oxygen saturation, may be used.
