Home / FAQ Items / Who can a person with blood type A donate to?

Individuals with blood type A can donate blood to those with blood types A and AB. Red blood cells in blood type A contain A antigens, which are only compatible with those individuals whose blood type can have A antigens (A and AB). Plasma from a person with blood type A can be donated to all blood types, as the plasma antigens do not cause a rejection reaction.
